If you are considering Botox treatments, Atlanta ENT is here for you. Botox is a trade name owned by the pharmaceutical company Allergan for botulinum toxin A. Botox works by blocking the muscle contractions that cause wrinkles.
The result is that those wrinkles disappear.
The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of Botox to treat a variety of conditions. FDA approval means that the Botox used for wrinkle reduction and other conditions has been tested extensively for safety and effectiveness.
Botox is commonly used to eliminate the wrinkles near the eyes (so called “frown lines”), forehead creases and “crows feet” near the mouth. In addition, Botox has been approved to treat cross-eyes, uncontrolled blinking, migraine headaches, excessive sweating. and severe muscle contractions in the neck.
At the Atlanta ENT Aesthetic Center, our experience has been that Botox treatments are extremely effective. Botox is available by prescription only and the injection procedures must be performed under the direction of a licensed medical professional. In addition, we purchase Botox directly from the manufacturer, thereby assuring you of purity and safety.
How Long Will Botox Treatments Last?
Botox treatments generally last at least three months. Desired results from Botox treatment will be enhanced by your regular use of sunblock, the use of a quality moisturizing lotion and a proper amount of sleep. You should also remember that your Botox results will be better if you combine wrinkle elimination with diet, exercise and nutritional supplementation.
Botox treatments do not eliminate the need to take care of your skin. You can maintain the improved appearance of your face by:
- Continuing to use gentle facial cleansing products that do not contain harsh chemicals
- Moisturizing your skin
- Minimizing stress in your life
- Avoiding direct exposure to the sun
Botox Is safe, proven and effective.
“Adverse reactions from Botox are extremely rare and our patients have been extremely happy with the very noticeable results following their treatment.”
—Dr. Ramie A. Tritt, Medical Director at Atlanta ENT Aesthetic Center
Botox Cosmetic was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2002 and almost 3.3 million procedures were performed in 2005 alone.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval means the potency, purity, and stability of the Botox ingredients demonstrate that the drug is safe and effective for its intended use.
The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery ranked Botox Cosmetic as the most popular physician-administered aesthetic procedure in the United States for the fourth year in a row (surgical and nonsurgical combined).
The Atlanta ENT Aesthetic Center administers Botox® in a clean, safe and comfortable treatment facility. Our physicians and anesthetists have undergone rigorous training in the use of the Botox serum.
“Botox should not be administered in an exercise gym or in someone’s living room,” cautions Dr. Ramie A. Tritt, Medical Director of the Atlanta ENT Aesthetic Center. “I strongly caution anyone against taking Botox injections in a so-called Botox Party or in a non-sterile environment. At our facility, we adhere to the FDA’s directives about the application, storage and use of Botox, as our patients’ safety is our primary concern.”
Atlanta ENT’s Aesthetic & Plastic Center offers in-office consultations with an aesthetic counselor. Together, you and your counselor can discuss threatment options for reducing wrinkles, eliminating fat and improving the appearance of your skin. A physician consultation is also available depending on the condition.
Atlanta ENT: Botox Treatment Procedure:
You’ll probably be seated in a reclining chair, much like you find in a dentist’s office. No anesthesia is required, although your doctor may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream.
Your doctor will determine where to administer the Botox by examining your ability to move certain muscles in your brow area. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes
There is no recovery time needed, and most people return to their normal activities after their appointment.
How to Prepare for Your Botox Treatment:
Do not wear makeup or apply skin creams to the area where you will undergo Botox treatment. The skin at the injection site needs to be as clean and sanitary as possible.
Do not eat a big meal prior to treatment in the highly unlikely event that you have an allergic reaction to the Botox or to the numbing cream. It is okay to drink water or other non-alcoholic liquids prior to your appointment.
Drink plenty of water for two or three days prior to your appointment. Botox works best when your skin is fully hydrated, both before and after your injections.
If you are taking any prescription medications or if you have recently undergone any surgical procedures, please make those facts known to your aesthetic counselor.
Stay out of the sun in the days prior to your treatment—even with sunscreen, the sun will cause damage to your skin.
