Every year, New Year’s resolutions get made to improve appearances by dieting or hitting the gym, but recent data suggests that the holiday season also brings an upswing in the number of plastic surgery procedures being done, as well. In fact, Time magazine recently reported that plastic surgery and other aesthetic treatments were a popular gift this holiday season.

Giving the gift of plastic surgery or aesthetic treatments, including Botox injections, rose as much as 35 percent over last year. Many plastic surgeons saw an increase in gift certificates being purchased for the holidays, which are typically redeemed for lower-cost treatments such as medical grade peels, laser hair removal or permanent cosmetics.

It’s also important to note that most surgeons see an increase of surgery scheduling requests over the holidays, when schools are out and people have more time off of work to recover.
