If you step outside your front door, there is no doubt we are in the throws of a rough allergy season, turning what should be blissful warm days into misery for many. What you might not know is that the allergens in the air may be causing more than just itchy eyes or a runny nose. They may be behind your skin and beauty woes, too. According to Allure’s beauty expert, here are a few things you might not have known about allergy season:
- Pollen, dust, mites, mold and dander can trigger an allergic reaction that causes blood to pool under the skin of the eyes. Those dark circles you can’t get rid of? Might just be allergies after all.
- Red bumps on the face or arms are often caused by a sun rash, which is typically easy to treat with antihistamines and a cold compress.
- Blotchy skin in the summer months? Likely a form of sun or heat rash as well!
- Hives, burning sensations or a rash could be caused by parabens, a common ingredient in sunscreens that some people are allergic to. Look for a PABA-free sunscreen to avoid allergens.
If new allergies appear during the summer months, be sure to schedule an appointment with your provider at Atlanta ENT.
